Concept albums always are something difficult to get: did the writers got a surge of geniallity or do they fail miserably in their attempt of arrogance? With this Sepultura review I’ll leave this matter in the middle. But for those who don’t know: A-Lex handles the story of Alex from A Clockwork Orange (yes, the movie or even better, the book from author Anthony Burgess).

Only one year after their debut release, Legion (ex-Marduk) and his companians release their second album God To The Illfated on humanity. It’s always dangerous for a band to release a second album this quick, they’ll always have the risk of sounding the same as on the last album. But fortunately this is not the case, as Devian again delivers a great album.

wrath

Lamb of God is a special kind of band with their own unique sound. The band from Virginia has great albums as ‘As The Palaces Burn’, ‘Ashes Of The Wake’ and ‘Sacrament’ so expectations for their new release were set high. With ‘Wrath’ the band doesn’t fail, on the contrary, to my opinion it’s their most musically advanced album to date while keeping it heavy as sh*t. The perfect example for this is the track ‘Grace’ which combines brutality with melodious music.

Doro’s last attempt ‘Warrior Soul’ dates form almost three years ago. I recall this record as one of her best to date. Great songs, accurate singing and of course Doro’s love and heart. After a few tours and many shows she now presents her new record named ‘Fear No Evil’.
This should become her 15th official release - as counted on the AFM Records site - since the classic Warlock record ‘Burning The Witches’ on which she debuted twenty five years ago.

Napalm Records

stuck_mojoStuck Mojo, one of the trendsetting bands of the 90’s with their crossover between metal and rap, returns with a new record on a new label. Back in the days, they were one of the best selling bands on Century Media records. After a break –from 2000 until 2004- and a self financed record Southern Born Killers (2007) they teamed up with the Austrian label Napalm records. This label now releases “This Is The Great Revival” after the re-release of its predecessor and it must be said: this record truly is what the title claims.

Civet is an all female punkrock band from California, or femme fatale punk rock as they call it. Curious as I was to hear how they would pull off this act, I put the CD in the player. Hell Hath No Fury turns out to be quite a nice disc of punk songs, 13 to be precise.

The Finnish band is known for about ten years for their mix of fast, technical, melodic guitars and keyboards, combined with raw vocals. After three albums the band felt like it needed a new sound which resulted in the album Hatecrew Deathroll.

After their cancelled performance at the Graspop festival this year, Opeth had to set things straight with their Belgian fans. As support acts they brought The Ocean and Cynic, which were both nice support acts, especially Cynic had a bunch of their own fans down in Brussels.
